March Ponderings  -  Spring   - A Season of Change

If you are like me and your first act every morning is to peak out the window to check  your pond, you’ve been seeing some changes lately.  The ice is receding and I’m catching more glimpses of my koi.  The first robins are hopping to the ice free areas to quench their thirst.  Marsh marigold are beginning to push their way up above the water to catch the sun’s rays.

I realize that I don’t look to the thermometer to tell me how heavy a coat to wear this morning…. my pond observations give me the answer.

While it still too early (except for the extremely hardy) to think of grabbing the lawn chair, we know that time will come too.  For now, most of us are content to daydream about the changes we could make in our back yard paradises.  More color to accent the boulder at pond’s edge.  A weeping evergreen to frame the waterfall.  Maybe a babbling stream to take the place of  that tired patch of lawn.  Or a second falls traversing that slope.  Hmm, maybe I should change the way the water cascades over that rock?  Yep, spring is coming and change comes with it.

Speaking of spring, we will be creating spring like displays at The Western Mass Home & Garden Show in 2 weeks.  It may still be cold outside, but we will have a preview of the coming season inside.  We would love for you to stop by and say hello.  It’s a great way for us to catch up with friends!

We will be starting our pond cleanouts and startups as soon as the weather allows.  Give us a call to schedule yours.  We will also have a full inventory of pond products to keep your pond and fish happy in 2009.
